In the summer of 2022, I was commissioned to create a body of music that would accompany an art installation. The exhibit was based on the juxtaposition of light vs dark through various means of expression - one long harmonious piece that would evolve from darkness and resolve itself in light. Disappointingly, the installation had to be cancelled and the exhibit would never take place.

For whatever reason, I kept working on the ‘light’ side of the recordings. Minutes turned into hours, hours turned into days, days into weeks and so on. I found myself totally lost in exploration. Exclusively working on my modular system and resampling physical instruments, I constantly kept revisiting the prompt, almost an excuse to keep creating without caring if anyone would ever hear it.

Fast forward to the last couple of weeks, I’ve found myself playing and enjoying the sounds in the background while doing relaxing tasks - cooking, reading, long drives, or going on walks with my headphones. Sorting through 5+ hours of semi-completed compositions, I found handfuls of daydreams and pleasant memories I especially enjoyed. I condensed them into my favorite 42 minutes, as I couldn’t think of a good enough reason to let these tracks go to the hard drive to die.

If you choose to listen sometime, I hope this record brings you as much joy and relaxation as it did me while making it. Let it also serve as a reminder that there is indeed no destination, but to instead relish the journey and remember the only known constant is change. ❤️👻
